New Rules - MUST READ - updated 20Aug2008
In 2008 we have decided to change a few things in the forum.
Firstly, there is a secret forum area. Once users have amounted a certain number of posts
(half century) they will get access to this new section.
Secondly, after much discussion we have decided to change user interaction on the board. What we mean by this, is that:
- ALL users will be allowed to post in the GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM.
- This forum will be monitored by moderators, but we won't be answering tech help questions about KisMAC and things that belong in other forums. Further clarification: This means there is NO direct support for or regarding KisMAC in the General Discussion forum. PERIOD. Please don't try; we are rather tired of locking threads and telling you to read these rules.
- The aim of this discussion forum is to introduce yourself, let everyone know what hardware, chipset, OS, version of KisMAC you use (stuff that should be in your posts), and to add to the non-Wi-Fi side of life.
- "Me too"- and "Thanks"-style posts do not match the intent of these rules as they contribute no content whatsoever and are likely to be removed without notification. (In other words, add some content to the threads!)
- Once you reach 10 posts, please private message BugDave and he will enable you to post in any other forum.
- PMs for KisMAC support to moderators and admins will be ignored.
We strongly believe that 99% of your answers are already here on the boards, in the
FAQ, or in the
WIKI. You can
also search for them on the forums
here.
We hope that this will eliminate the need for the moderators to constantly lock topics, or move them to
this forum, as we've found that most of the questions are in fact already answered here and often asked by new users with no posts, despite the answers being quite obvious in the Wiki, FAQ and other forum threads.
UPDATE: Threads that break these rules will no longer be locked, but will instead be deleted and a PM will be sent to you with a very brief explanation of which rule you broke. There were too many people breaking the rules and never returning to ask their question in the appropriate manner, which we really don't appreciate.
We hope that you stay and get your 10 posts so that you can then join in useful discussions elsewhere. It's really not that hard to accumulate the number required, be creative!

While this may seem to be annoying or arbitrary, please remember that we have to moderate these forums and it is annoying to see the same questions asked many many times. The bottom line is that the more time we spend trying to deal with the same questions here, the less time KisMAC gets developed.
Disagree with any of this? Have any suggestions as to how it could be improved? Send us a PM.
