Post Hackintosh (Dell Mini 10v)
So I received my Dell Mini 10v, successfully installed Mac OS X. Did some preliminary tests with KisMAC, rt73 worked fine (As I expected), but also the built in airport card (Which isn't an airport card at all) worked fine as well. I didn't go really in-depth so its possible all sorts of features could be broken, but I thought it was worth a post to say that KisMAC worked to some degree. I'll test the GPS features once I actually get my dongle back, left it at a friend's house.

That is pretty cool. What kind of wireless card is in the Dell?

Its the Dell 1510 WLAN 802.11g /n Mini Card according to their page, so I'm not sure exactly what brand it is. It shows up just as "Third Party Wireless Card" under about this mac so thats no help. I have a feeling it works because the way KisMAC interacts with the "airport" card is fairly high level, if the OS recognizes it, then there shouldn't be any problem.

There are a few quirky things about it though, couldn't get bluetooth to work (It is supposed to and other people have had success), and the headphone/mic jacks don't work, even though they both should be and other people have reported success. It also has an SD card reader but I haven't had the chance to test that out, maybe it will work, after all Apple did put SD card slots in the new MBPs.

I have the 17" MBP which is just bought a month ago and it does not have an SD card slot... I think there are drivers you can download that will make the bluetooth work, I'm not sure about the headphone/mic jack though. Did you use Kalway Leopard 10.5.x as your OS?

Unmodified retail 10.5.6, so far the only drivers i've had to add are the sound card drivers, other then that it works without any additions.

How did you install the unmodified Leopard if you need a disk drive? Are you able it to a USB key and load it? I was wondering because I'm thinking of installing Leopard on my Acer Aspire One which also has no disk drive.

Okay I got the bluetooth working, I ended up having to boot into Ubuntu and re-enable bluetooth using Dell's wireless / bluetooth manager. If I could just get the line out to work I would have a 100% functioning Mac OS X laptop

I installed Leopard on my Acer and everything works 100% perfectly. I probably just jinxed it though, and everything is about to break.
